KANTEMÓ
LA CUEVA DE LAS SERPIENTES COLGANTES

Béej Ka'ax Ha is a community organization with more than 15 years of experience in adventure tourism, offering visitors the opportunity to observe a unique natural phenomenon such as hanging snakes devouring bats. In addition, during your visit you can observe aquatic life and fossils in a cave, watch moreletii lizards in the lagoon, enjoy food made with local products and stay in cabins or tents.

For birdwatchers, the community of Kantemó has ecosystems that are home to more than 90 species of birds. It is located just a few minutes from the Chichankanab lagoon, 2 kilometers from the town of Dziuché, in the municipality of José María Morelos in Quintana Roo.

After three years of studies, training and acquisition of adequate equipment to offer adventure tourism activities, in 2003 the organization opened its facilities to the public.

The Bej Kax Ha de R.L. Cooperative Society is a social enterprise made up of 52 ejidatarios of the town, 20 women and 32 men, who have organized themselves to offer tourism services in their community. Some of them work full time as cooks and waiters, others are dedicated to cleaning the facilities, two women have specialized as nature guides, and the rest of the members participate indirectly and/or partially in the maintenance of trails and areas used for tourism.
